KARACHI: An indocile and unruly group of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) activists on Tuesday night tried to barge into Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) headquarters, Baitul Hamza, in Karachi’s Landhi area.

Dozens of PTI activists, ostensibly enraged by ouster of PTI Chairman Imran Khan from office of the prime minister as a result of the opposition’s no-confidence motion, reached at Baitul Hamza on multitude bikes. They scribbled name of Imran Khan on wall of MQM-H headquarters and rose slogans in favour of their leader.

Even though the MQM-H workers stopped them from entering the building, but the incident has escalated tension between the two political parties in the area.

MQM-H General Secretary Arif Azam said attack on their central secretariat was unacceptable. He alleged that the attack was led by PTI officials Shahid and Nadeem. He said the wanton attack was beyond his understanding as neither his party had been part of any government nor ally with the opposition.

He claimed that 60-70 people first drew graffiti then they vandalised the building.

“Our workers were enraged but we cooled them down. The goons tore MQM-H Chairman Afaq Ahmed’s pictures as well in Landhi No 5 and Chiragh Hotel. We have contacted the authorities for legal action against the assailants. We have left all the situation on prerogative of the law enforcement agencies,” he said.
