
The heavy flow of water and high flood in Shishper Glacier has severely damaged RCC Bridge on Karakorum Highway at Hassanabad area in Hunza Valley on Saturday.
The Hunza district administration has restored traffic on alternate SAS valley route from Nagar district.
The erosion of lands along the protective walls in Hassanabad is continuing because of flooding.
Foreign Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said there was a need to tackle the situation on emergency basis. It should be ensured that the local population was not hurt, he directed the administration.

“The PPP cannot leave people of Gilgit-Baltistan alone in the hour of difficulty. The fast melting of glaciers is a matter of concern. We can no more hide our heads like ostrich on the environmental changes,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the first consignment of relief goods for flood affected people of Afghanistan has reached Afghanistan through a special aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force on Saturday.
The relief goods include tents, flour, rice and sugar. The second consignment of relief goods will be dispatched on April 9 (Monday).
In his remarks, PM Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan would make every possible effort for the assistance of flood affected people of Afghanistan.
