Imran Khan to hold another telethon for flood victims tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would hold a second telethon to raise funds for flood relief operations tomorrow, Bol News reported.

The telethon will be held at 11 PM on Sunday, September 11, after the conclusion of the Asia Cup final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket teams being held in Dubai. The announcement was made by Imran Khan in an interview with Senior Bol News Anchorperson Sami Ibrahim.

PTI leader Iftikhar Durrani said Imran Khan would hold a second telethon to collect donations for flood-affected families on 11 pm tomorrow (September 11).

He said Overseas Pakistanis particularly from the United States would participate in the telethon and donate for flood victims. He said Imran Khan is the only leader trusted by Overseas Pakistanis and local citizens. He said people had shown faith in the PTI chier and donated over Rs5 billion in the first telethon.

He added that the preparations for the telethon are underway and everyone should donate and help their fellow countrymen in their hour of need. The telethon would be telecasted live on TV and social media platforms.

On August 30, Imran Khan held an international telethon to raise funds from within the country and overseas Pakistanis for the flood victims.

Senator Faisal Javed Khan, who moderated the event, said they collected over Rs5 billion in donations in 3 hours long telethon. The PTI chairman said that he is struggling for real independence besides assisting the flood victims.

British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan also joined the telethon and announced Rs5 million for flood victims. A Houston-based Pakistani businessman announced to donate $10 million (approx. Rs2.2 billion) foe building houses of flood victims.

Soon after, Imran Khan had announced to hold a second telethon to raise funds. He had promised to spend Rs1 billion for the flood victims in Sindh from the funds raised in the telethon.
