ISLAMABAD: A case has been registered against former special assistant to the prime minister on accountability and interior Barrister Mirza Shahzad Akbar.
Actress Sofia Mirza and former Director-General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sanaullah Abbasi have also been named as accused in the case filed the Secretariat Police Station.
The case has been filed by Dubai-based Pakistani-Norwegian businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor, who is the ex-husband of actress and model Sofia Mirza.
The suspects have been booked under various provisions including fraud and record tampering. The complaint said Shahzad Akbar and former DG FIA prepared fake warrants against Umar Farooq Zahoor.
It added that Sofia Mirza, Shahzad Akbar and Sanaullah Abbasi filed false and bogus cases against the complainant. It further said the accused prepared bogus court documents and unlawfully used court records.
Court documents have revealed that actress and model Sofia Mirza, whose real name is Khushbakht Mirza, ran a vindictive campaign against her former husband and Umar Farooq Zahoor.
Sofia Mirza allegedly in connivance with Mirza Shahzad Akbar ran a campaign against Umar Farooq Zahoor. Akbar used the FIA for malicious campaign against the businessman and a case was registered against Umar Farooq on Akbar’s directions.
Sofia Mirza filed a complaint with the FIA Lahore Corporate Circle, claiming her husband was involved in fraud and money laundering.
The documents also revealed that the FIA instructed the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to take action against the businessman, whereas, he was acquitted in three countries after being found not guilty
Sofia Mirza had also managed to get a case registered against Farooq for kidnapping his own daughters, with whom she had a long-running custody battle.
Her husband has alleged that Sofia took Rs5 million to give custody of two daughters to him with the condition of not to mention payment money in the agreement.
A copy of the agreement between Sofia Mirza and her husband Umar Farooq came to light according to which Umar Farooq said that the agreement was signed in 2007 in the presence of two witnesses.
