ISLAMABAD: A blast took place in I-10 area of Islamabad that left one policeman dead and six injured including two civilians. The incident happened when the security tried to stop a vehicle for search.
As per details, in an alleged suicidal attempt, a bomber blew himself up upon stopping by the police for a search that wounded at least four security officials.
The initial reports said that the taxi was carrying a male and one female.
The police said that the “taxi” was stopped as it seemed suspicious to the cops. The vehicle had explosive material inside and the bomber blew himself.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot after the blast. The injured have been rushed to PIMS. Head Constable Adeel Hussain was martyred in the attempt.
Security on alert
It is also said that the security was on high alert in the capital and snap checking was underway.
Pertaining to the situation, high alert has been declared in the twin cities and the police have been instructed to provide fool proof security to the Friday prayer gatherings.
PM’s message
On the other hand, PM Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah condemned the attempt. PM said that an immediate report regarding the incident should be submitted.
He said that the terrorists are the enemies of the country and vowed to combat the scourge.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah also appreciated the force for foiling the attempt and paid tribute to the martyr policeman.
