Muhajir Cultural Day is being celebrated on Dec 24 (Saturday) across the country particularly in Sindh.

The central organizers addressing a press conference regarding the Muhajir Cultural Day at Karachi Press Club on Thursday, said that Muhajir Cultural Day would be celebrated with enthusiasm on December 24.

Central organizer Zohaib Azam of the Central Cabinet of Muhajir Youth on the occasion said that they had decided to celebrate he Culture Day in 2020 on a completely non-political basis.

He maintained that the day is celebrated by the youth of Karachi with complete neutrality without any socio-economic benefits, without any political, social and economic support.

Azam further said that a culture night (Shab-e-Saqqafat) would be celebrated at Markarz-e-Islami, Ayesha Manzil on 23rd December (Friday) night.

On December 24, Muhajir Cultural Day, a grand rally would be taken out from Karimabad to Mazar-e-Quaid in the afternoon, Azam said.

 At the end of the conference, he also invited people from different walks of life to participate in the rally.

Central organizers Faiz Ali Khan, Hasan Khan, Umair Maqsudi, Shujaat Qazi and Zahib Khan were present on this occasion.

Meanwhile, a ceremony of Muhajir Culture Day was organised by MQM’s Literature Department at Arts Council.

MQM Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, former minister Rauf Siddiqui, Federal Minister Faisal Sabzwari, Administrator East Shakeel Ahmed, Administrator Central Taha and other people participated in the event. Speakers also addressed the participants on the occasion.

On 19th December speaking as the chief guest at an Urdu Mushaira at Al-Markaz-i-Islami in relation to the Muhajir Culture Day to be celebrated on Dec 24, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said that Mushaira is directly linked to the Muhajir culture, but in the recent sociopolitical times, literary activities have been stunted.

Over a dozen poets, including Khwaja Razi Haider, Ajmal Siraj, Abdul Rehman Momin and Ambreen Haseeb Amber, who also hosted the evening, enthralled the audience with their couplets. Poet Anwar Shaoor presided over the event.

Lauding the efforts of the organisers, Governor Tessori said that if such events continued to be held in the city, society would grow and prosper.
