CM Sindh visits Turkish Consulate to condole over quake losses

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday visited the Turkish Consulate to offer his condolences over the loss of lives in the devastating earthquake.

The chief minister was accompanied by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Shah. CM Sindh expressed his deepest condolences to the Consul General over the earthquake in Turkiye.

The chief minister also recorded his comments in the guest book.  He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life due to the earthquake. Murad said that Pakistan especially the people of Sindh are with their Turkish brothers in this difficult period.

A day earlier, the Sindh Cabinet approved donating 100,000 tents for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkiye.

A session of the provincial cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved donation of tents for the earthquake victims.

CM Murad said Turkiye had generously supported the flood victims in Sindh. He said they will not leave their Turkish brethren in these testing times.

Turkiye’s state-run disaster and management agency AFAD had established a tent city for flood victims of Sindh near Nooriabad in October last year.

The tent city named Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was set up in Bholari, where more than 200 tents were erected for the flood-affected people.

Turkiye had also dispatched several cargo flights with hundreds of tonnes of relief goods and a train loaded with aid items to Pakistan.

A major earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck central Turkiye and northwest Syria in the wee hours of Monday. The death tolls from the devastating quale has reached more than 5000 people
