ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said since the “imported government” came into power, the law and constitution of the country were being violated and situation had deteriorated so much that neither police nor state implemented court orders.
In a video regarding ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ (Fill Jails Movement), Imran Khan said he wanted to make people understand that why he wanted to launch the movement. The nations were ruled under a law in the world and constitution decided the right and wrong things, he added.
“When the imported government was fleeing from the Islamabad by-elections, the court directed it to hold election within 48 hours. However, it has been about one month, but election is not held yet,” he said.
The former prime minister said our constitution protected human rights, nevertheless the PTI leaders were arrested and tortured on just one tweet. So far, many PTI supporters’ mental health could not be stabilized because of the torture, he added.
Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid was arrested despite bail granted by the court, he said. He said the court fourice directed the IG to produce Fawad Chaudhry but they took him to Islamabad.
“Custodial torture was done on Shahbaz Gill and then he was scared and threatened. Violence was carried out on the peaceful protest of May 25, which law in the democracy allows it,” he said adding that these were only few examples which showed that people’s trust on the constitution and law was diminishing.
Imran Khan said they sacrificed their two governments only because the constitution ordered to hold elections in 90 days of dissolution of the assemblies.
“Around 25 days have passed, but date of election is not given so far which is violation of the constitution,” he said adding that if they went past 90 days then the constitution was clear that Article 6 would be implemented.
He said all the nation was looking towards Pakistan’s judiciary as they were going to suspend the constitution once again.
“We have decided to launch the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ for supremacy of the law and constitution. We don’t hope any good from those whose corruption’s evidence are available at international level,” he said.
Imran Khan said Panama Papers revealed that the Sharif family had one of the most expensive properties in London, still they were not tortured and provided facilities in jail.
“There are two ways before us, one is that we carry arson and destroy properties and spread anarchy in the country, but Pakistan’s economy has reached at its worst pinnacle. Never in Pakistan’s history such a crisis has been witnessed,” he said adding that that’s why they had decided to hold a peaceful protest.
The PTI chief said in the first phase of the movement, PTI’s district presidents would register workers from their areas. All the volunteers should come forward and get themselves registered, he asked.
“After that, I will announce when to begin the Jail Bharo Tehreek. Insha Allah, we will get true freedom and democracy for Pakistan through this movement where there will be rule of law,” he said.
