ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Friday said the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had demanded from Pakistan to stop the long range missile programme, Bol News reported.

Talking to media in Islamabad, while flanked by PTI leader Advocate Dr Babar Awan, Fawad Chaudhry said the country would default if it did not receive money from the IMF.

He said Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz was after inquiry into his tweet, while the economic experts feared that the country could default.

The former federal minister for information and broadcasting said the current economic team could not reach a deal with the IMF. The country was facing economic crisis because of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he maintained. “First Miftah Ismail ruined the economy and now Ishaq Dar is carrying forward the legacy,” he said.

Babar Awan said human rights were violated by shutting down Lahore. He said both the inspector generals of Islamabad and Punjab should be court martialed. He said if they were sent to the occupied Kashmir, they would have conquered it.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from taking disciplinary action against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Bol News reported.

The high court was hearing the petition against the FIA’s show cause notice to Fawad Chaudhry over demanding inquiry against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz for taking gifts from Toshakhana. The PTI leader had said this in a tweet.

The LHC sought replies issuing notices to the federal government, FIA director general and other stakeholders. Chaudhry’s counsel Zafar Iqbal Mangan had given arguments in the court.
