LAHORE: Renowned Pakistani actor Khalid Butt passed away on Thursday in Lahore after an extended illness, battling liver and kidney diseases.

Butt, a familiar face on the country’s television screens for decades, had a significant presence in numerous films.

Family sources have confirmed that the actor’s funeral prayer is scheduled to take place after Asr prayer on Friday.

Having initiated his career in the 1970s, Butt showcased his talent as a versatile artist, portraying both serious and comedic roles in various Urdu and Punjabi language movies and TV shows. Recognizing his contributions, the government honored Butt with the Prize of Performance Award for his significant services to the entertainment industry.

Throughout his illustrious career, Butt delivered memorable performances in acclaimed drama serials such as Teesra Kinara, Neelay Hath, and Boota From Toba Tek Singh. In addition to showcasing his acting prowess, the accomplished artist also ventured into directing. Khalid Butt is survived by his widow, two sons, and two daughters.
