Rain and snowfall in Pakistan: Tourists flock to scenic valleys
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the mountains in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday evening/night and Thursday.
According to the PMD, a continental air mass prevails over most regions of the country, while a weak westerly wave influences northern parts of Balochistan and western areas. This wave is expected to extend to upper regions from tonight and may persist until Thursday.
As a result, light rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall over mountainous areas are anticipated in Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Shangla, Swat, Buner, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Nowshera, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, and Waziristan on Wednesday evening/night and Thursday. Upper districts are expected to experience freezing weather, while the rest of the province will likely have cold and dry conditions.
Peshawar’s minimum temperatures are expected to range between 05-07 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 04-06 degrees Celsius on Friday.
In the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the province, with freezing temperatures recorded in upper districts. Kalam registered the lowest temperature in the province, dropping 12 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 06 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 79 percent in the morning.
