QUETTA: After a recount of votes, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) successfully retained a seat in the Balochistan Assembly.

Muhammad Khan Lehri, representing PML-N, emerged as the victor of PB-14 Nasirabad, defeating Ghulam Rasool Imrani of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) by a margin of 1919 votes.

According to the Returning Officer (RO), Muhammad Khan Lehri secured 20706 votes, while Ghulam Rasool Imrani of the PPP managed to garner 18787 votes.

The results were challenged by the PPP candidate, leading to a request for a recount of votes. Previously, on February 19, PML-N also retained a seat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly after a vote recount, with a narrow lead of 186 votes.

In PK-40 Mansehra, PML-N’s Sardar Shah Jahan was declared the winner over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed independent candidate Shakoor Naumani. The recounting of votes for 173 polling stations was ordered by the Returning Officer (RO) following a request from the PTI-backed independent candidate. Sardar Shah Jehan secured 43104 votes, while PTI-backed Shakoor Naumani managed to gather 42918 votes.
