He stated that the Pakistani Cabinet has approved these direct flight routes between the two countries.
Currently, Sri Lankan Airlines operates flights to the Pakistani cities of Karachi and Lahore.
Islamabad-Colombo Direct Flights
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will conduct bilateral consultations next Monday, after a two-year hiatus, to discuss various subjects such as trade, investment, tourism, culture, and sports activities.
The two countries enjoy a strong trade relationship, bolstered by the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (PSFTA), which facilitates reduced tariffs and improved market access. This agreement has strengthened economic ties, with Pakistan exporting textiles, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals to Sri Lanka, while Sri Lanka exports tea, rubber, and machinery to Pakistan.
Beyond trade, both nations collaborate in various sectors, including investment, technology, and infrastructure. Regular trade missions and negotiations further enhance their economic cooperation, making their bilateral trade ties robust and dynamic.
