Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has bolstered its operational capacity by adding a previously grounded ATR aircraft to its fleet.

According to the PIA CEO, the newly operational aircraft will enhance connectivity to domestic destinations such as Gilgit, Sukkur, Turbat, and Gwadar. The national carrier has also outlined an ambitious fleet expansion strategy to strengthen its services.

The plan includes increasing operational Boeing 777 aircraft to eight, expanding the Airbus A320 fleet to 12, and enhancing the ATR fleet to two aircraft. This move aligns with PIA’s broader operating strategy for 2025, aimed at improving passenger services and operational efficiency.

PIA is actively preparing to reintegrate grounded aircraft following the anticipated removal of restrictions by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. The airline is also strategizing to reopen routes to Europe and the UK, focusing on cost-effective travel for overseas Pakistanis.

The airline’s commitment to punctuality has resulted in an on-time performance rate exceeding 90%, showcasing a significant improvement in service delivery.

Efforts are underway to prepare a Boeing 777 and an Airbus A320 for upcoming European routes, with the Boeing 777 scheduled to commence flights to Paris on January 10. Both aircraft had been grounded for over a year but are now being readied for operational duties, including Hajj services.

Despite economic challenges, the government has remained steadfast in its support for PIA’s growth. The airline recently added an Airbus A320 to its schedule, taking its first commercial flight from Islamabad to Karachi.

PIA continues to push forward with its expansion plans, reflecting its commitment to enhancing passenger experience and strengthening its global presence.
