According to a report by Global Firepower, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) continues to soar towards excellence, carrying forward a remarkable legacy of bravery and sacrifice.

On April 13, 1948, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah emphasized the importance of air power, stating:
“A country without a strong air force is at the mercy of any aggressor. Pakistan must build up its air force as quickly as possible. It must be an efficient air force, second to none.”

Today, the Pakistan Air Force has achieved a prestigious standing, earning global recognition for its capabilities.

As per Global Firepower’s latest rankings, the PAF has secured the 7th position among the world’s most powerful air forces. This ranking is determined by assessing the number and types of fighter jets, helicopters, and other aircraft in service.

The report highlights that with a fleet of 1,434 aircraft, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) plays a crucial role in ensuring regional security and maintaining strategic dominance in South Asia.

According to the Global Firepower report, the United States leads the list with the largest and most advanced air force, which includes 5,737 helicopters, 1,854 fighter jets, and 3,722 support aircraft, along with an annual defense budget of $800 billion.

Following the U.S., Russia and China occupy the second and third positions, respectively. Despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Russia remains a dominant force with significant air capabilities.

The report also reveals that China is rapidly modernizing its air force, incorporating advanced technologies like sixth-generation fighter jets and supersonic aircraft.

Additionally, it was noted that despite regional challenges, Pakistan is modernizing its fleet and enhancing its air power. The PAF continues to be a key player in the geopolitical landscape of South Asia, while Egypt, Turkey, and France also feature in the top 10 rankings.
