Ethiopian Air Chief visits Pakistan, Agree to boost defense cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Ethiopian Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa, visited the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Headquarters in Islamabad and met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

According to the ISPR, the visit aimed to strengthen air force cooperation and expand military partnership between the two countries.

On his arrival, Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa was presented with a guard of honor. During his meeting with the PAF Chief, both sides discussed matters of mutual professional interest.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Sidhu reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Ethiopia through joint training and operational support. He also highlighted the deep brotherly ties between the two nations and assured continued assistance in different fields of aviation.

The Ethiopian Air Chief praised PAF’s operational readiness, multi-domain capabilities, and modern defense strategies. He expressed his desire to learn from Pakistan’s experience in command systems, training, and technological advancement.

During the visit, the Ethiopian delegation received detailed briefings at the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Center and the PAF Cyber Command.

Lieutenant General Yilma Merdasa appreciated Pakistan’s progress in defense technology and self-reliance, and expressed hope to take aviation cooperation between the two countries to new heights.
