Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that a heartfelt apology is necessary for achieving political reconciliation, stressing that he will not sacrifice one friend for another. He made these remarks while speaking to the media in Brussels, where overseas Pakistanis welcomed him as a war hero.
Munir praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for working with sincerity and putting in 18-hour days, commending both the premier and the cabinet for their determination during the war. He also spent several hours at a Brussels event meeting Pakistanis who had traveled long distances to see him.
Syed Asim Munir rejected rumors about any changes in his role, calling them completely false and propagated by those opposing both the government and the establishment. He said God has made him a guardian of the country and he has no ambition for any other position.
