MDCAT 2025: PMDC expands test centers to facilitate students
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced new exam centers for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 to make it easier for students, especially those from remote areas.
Under the new plan, students from Sindh and Balochistan will now have the option to take the test in Islamabad. Jacobabad has also been added as a new center, giving relief to students from upper Sindh who previously had to travel long distances to Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, or Sukkur.
Many students and parents had complained about the financial burden and stress of traveling for the exam. A female candidate from Jacobabad said she was relieved by the decision. Last year, she had to travel nine hours to Karachi, where the long journey, unfamiliar surroundings, and overcrowded arrangements made the test even more stressful.
In addition, Sukkur IBA University and Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta, will set up a new center in Islamabad. This will benefit students from Sindh and Balochistan who are studying in the federal capital and will no longer need to travel back to their home provinces for the test.
Sukkur IBA University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, noted that the university had successfully organized a retake of the exam last year after reports of a paper leak in Sindh, ensuring transparency despite limited preparation time.
Meanwhile, PMDC confirmed that registration for MDCAT 2025 began on August 8 and will remain open until August 25. Students can also register late until September 1, 2025.
