Pakistan and Turkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to work together for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Muslim world and beyond.

This resolve was expressed in a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State in China on Sunday.

Both leaders reviewed the current state of relations between their countries and expressed satisfaction over the growing cooperation. They praised the steady increase in high-level contacts and collaboration in political, economic, defence, and security areas.

President Erdogan expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by the ongoing floods in different parts of Pakistan. He assured that Turkiye stands firmly with the people of Pakistan during this difficult time.

The two leaders also discussed key regional and global developments. They voiced serious concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reaffirmed their commitment to use international forums to defend the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and to strongly condemn Israeli aggression and genocidal policies.
