Hub Dam reaches full capacity, Water storage at 646,000 acre-feet
Karachi: The Hub Dam has reached its full capacity, with the water level now standing at 339 feet and a usable storage of 646,000 acre-feet.
According to officials, this amount of water will be enough to meet the needs of Karachi, Hub, and Lasbela for the next three years. Any extra inflow will be safely released downstream through the spillway to prevent overflow.
They added that the dam’s full storage capacity is 339 feet. Once the water level reaches this point, the spillway automatically starts releasing excess water.
Officials also noted that the dam had filled in September last year as well, bringing relief to water-scarce areas of the region.
