Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the high-level session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), starting Monday in New York. He will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other ministers and senior officials.

In his speech at the UNGA, the Prime Minister is expected to call on the world to help resolve the long-standing disputes of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, where people have been denied their right to self-determination. He will especially focus on the worsening crisis in Gaza and urge decisive global action to end the suffering of Palestinians.

Shehbaz Sharif will also present Pakistan’s position on key issues such as regional security, climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development.

During his visit, he will attend several important side events, including UN Security Council meetings, the Global Development Initiative session, and a special high-level event on climate action.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to join a meeting of select Islamic leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss global peace and security. In addition, he will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and senior UN officials to talk about matters of mutual interest.
