ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has stated that voter turnout in by-elections is generally low.

Speaking in Islamabad, he explained that public interest tends to be limited in such elections, as these contests rarely alter the overall political balance. “The numbers were not expected to change with this election, which is why turnout remained low,” he said.

The Chief Election Commissioner also highlighted that the Election Commission has taken action without discrimination against those violating the code of conduct.

Some reports were submitted by District Returning Officers (DROs), while the Commission also took suo moto notice of certain complaints. Additionally, PTI leader Talal Chaudhry has been summoned today in connection with code violations.
