Karachi: Heavy winter rain swept across several parts of Karachi on Thursday, bringing a cool and misty spell to the port city, as forecast by meteorological experts.

Rain of varying intensity was reported in different areas, with heavy downpours in some localities and moderate showers in others. According to reports, heavy rainfall continued in the outskirts of the city, particularly in Saima Arabian Villas, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Ahsanabad and surrounding areas.

The spell of heavy rain also persisted in North Karachi and Baldia Town, while strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour added to the chill. The weather system, influenced by an active westerly wave near the port city, triggered the rain accompanied by gusty winds.

Surjani Town, Musharraf Colony and Hub were among the first areas to receive the downpour. Showers were later reported in North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, Malir, Dalmia, Scheme 33, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and the Buffer Zone, while light drizzling was observed in PECHS.

Meteorological experts said the city’s weather is expected to turn colder in the aftermath of the rain, with a noticeable drop in temperature likely over the coming days. Residents have been advised to take precautions against the intensified cold spell.
