During his visit, the Iranian president is scheduled to hold formal talks with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He will also meet Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The Foreign Office said the visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to deepen historic ties and promote regional stability, while also exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The visit comes amid recent diplomatic activity following Islamabad- and Doha-mediated talks between the United States and Iran in Switzerland, where mediators reported progress toward a proposed 60-day roadmap for a potential agreement.

According to a joint statement by Pakistan and Qatar, both sides agreed to continue dialogue through technical-level negotiations. The discussions also covered regional security issues, including developments in Lebanon and maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz.

US Vice President JD Vance said the initial round of talks laid a strong foundation for further negotiations, while Pakistan reiterated its commitment to facilitating diplomatic engagement in the region.

President Pezeshkian’s visit marks his second trip to Pakistan as Iranian president and underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations amid evolving regional dynamics.
