ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian’s arrival in Pakistan today (Tuesday) is set to mark a renewed diplomatic push between Islamabad and Tehran, as both nations look to strengthen cooperation across political, economic, and regional fronts under a high-level official engagement.

President Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive on an official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a senior delegation comprising ministers and top officials.

During his visit, the Iranian President will hold formal meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He will also call on Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The discussions will focus on the full spectrum of Pakistan-Iran relations, with emphasis on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, border security, regional connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides are expected to explore practical steps to further strengthen economic and diplomatic cooperation.

Officials will also review progress on understandings reached under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and identify new avenues for collaboration.

In addition, the two sides are expected to exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest, with a focus on promoting regional stability and cooperation.

The visit is being seen as part of ongoing efforts to deepen long-standing historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran and to advance shared goals of peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
