President Asif Ali Zardari held an important meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II at Aiwan-e-Sadr, where both leaders discussed strengthening the long-standing and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Jordan.
First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Senator Sherry Rehman were also present during the meeting.
President Zardari and King Abdullah II agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation and explore new areas of partnership.
The President reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to close collaboration with Jordan and emphasized the need for a joint strategy to deepen ties between the two countries.
Both leaders also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace and stability in the region.
They reiterated their support for a two-state solution to the Palestine issue and stressed the need for an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state.
President Zardari conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award, the “Nishan-e-Pakistan,” upon King Abdullah II, while the Jordanian monarch awarded President Zardari the “Cordon of Al Nahda” (Order of the Renaissance), an honor reserved for heads of state and distinguished personalities.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf were also in attendance, along with senior civil and military officials. Members of the federal cabinet and ambassadors of both countries were present as well, adding further significance to the ceremony.
