Lahore: The Lahore Bar Association (LBA), Asia’s largest bar association, is set to hold its annual elections tomorrow, with biometric voting arrangements in place to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Election officials have confirmed that polling will be conducted for eight key seats, with a total of 27 candidates contesting. A total of 15,851 registered voters are eligible to cast their votes across 11 polling booths established for the electoral process.
The prestigious post of LBA President has attracted three candidates: Adeeb Aslam Bhunder, Shahid Jamal Butt, and Irfan Hayat Bajwa.
For the position of Vice President, five candidates are in the fray: Chaudhry M. Mushtaq, Hafiz Mushtaq Naeemi, Sheikh Kashif Ali, Mian Tahir Munir, and Humayun Zaheer Bhatti. The Vice President Model Town seat will see a contest among Asif Kanwal Khan, M. Naveed Hanif Kamboh, and Kashif Siddiq Gujar, while Zahid Mahmood Gul and Imran Olakh are competing for the Vice President Cantt seat.
The Secretary position has four contenders: Chaudhry Afnan Munwar, Rizwan Arshad Bobak, Shoaib Ashraf Bhatti, and Malik Fahad Nisar Khokhar. For the role of Joint Secretary, Asad Abbas, Samina Basra, and Salman Raheem Khokhar are in the race, while Finance Secretary sees a contest between Zohaib Khan and Yasir Nazir Padhiyar.
The Library Secretary post has attracted five candidates: Arshad Chadhar, M. Faryad Chaudhry, Samina Khokhar, Talib Naqvi, and Nauman Ali Goraya. Meanwhile, Auditor Rahila Hafeez Rana has been elected unopposed.
Strict security and administrative measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent election process. Election officials have urged all eligible members to participate and exercise their voting rights responsibly.
