The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for the 2024-25 academic year, organized by Dow University of Health Sciences, has concluded in Sindh.

More than 38,000 male and female students took part in the test, which was held at various locations, including NED University and the Cricket Ground at Dow University’s Ojha Campus in Karachi.

Examination centers were also set up in cities such as Jamshoro, Nawabshah, Larkana, and Sukkur.

At the Ojha campus, 6,846 students sat for the MDCAT, while 6,000 students appeared at NED University, Karachi.

Additionally, over 12,659 candidates participated in Jamshoro, 4,800 in Larkana, around 2,800 in Nawabshah, and 5,500 in Sukkur.

Parents voiced frustration over poor management at the test centers, with complaints regarding last-minute rules such as the removal of jewelry, which caused distress, particularly for female students.

Controversy has surrounded the MDCAT 2024 exam, with parents accusing Dow University of mismanagement and malpractice.

They expressed their dissatisfaction with the difficult entry process and claimed that female students were unfairly treated, especially due to the sudden demand to remove jewelry without prior notice.

Parents criticized the university’s unprofessional conduct and called on the Sindh government to take decisive action.

To ensure transparency, the Sindh Home Department enforced Section 144 around the test centers and installed mobile jammers to prevent cheating.

Strict security measures were also in place, including a ban on mobile phones and electronic devices, along with restrictions on unauthorized individuals entering the premises.
