Islamabad: The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the governments of China and Tajikistan, as well as to the families of the victims, following a terrorist attack in Tajikistan that claimed the lives of three Chinese nationals.
The spokesperson strongly condemned the attack, describing the targeting of Chinese citizens as “extremely reprehensible.” He further noted that the use of drones in the attack underscores the severity of this emerging threat.
According to the Foreign Office, the new threat originating from Afghan territory is a matter of serious concern. The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan itself has repeatedly been targeted by attacks emanating from Afghan soil, highlighting the need to ensure that Afghanistan’s territory is not used against neighboring countries.
Pakistan has called attention to the presence of terrorist elements under the Taliban’s patronage, warning that their existence poses a threat to regional security.
The spokesperson stressed that concrete and verifiable action against terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan is imperative.
The spokesperson assured that Pakistan will continue to cooperate with China and Tajikistan to ensure regional peace, security, and stability.
It should be noted that three Chinese citizens were killed in a drone attack on the border of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. In a statement issued by the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that a Chinese company in southern Tajikistan was targeted by a drone attack from Afghanistan.
