Pakistan has decided to make passport fee payments completely digital to make the process easier, quicker, and more transparent for citizens.
The decision was taken during an important meeting led by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Representatives from National Bank of Pakistan, JazzCash, Easypaisa, and other institutions also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, officials agreed to move passport fee payments to a fully digital system in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Interior Ministry.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa instructed officials to introduce a modern payment method so people would no longer need to wait in long bank queues to pay passport fees. All stakeholders promised full support for the quick implementation of the cashless system.
In a separate discussion, authorities also reviewed steps to improve services at passport offices. The goal is to provide citizens with faster, more transparent, and respectful services.
As part of these efforts, Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the Regional Passport Office in G-10, Islamabad, where he checked the facilities being provided to the public.
According to the spokesperson, Randhawa met citizens during the visit, listened to their complaints and issues, and directed officers to solve them immediately.
He also reviewed the cashless system already working at the office and expressed satisfaction with its performance.
Randhawa said modern technology is helping improve transparency and making services more convenient for citizens. He also repeated his commitment to further improving standards at passport offices so people can receive quick, transparent, and dignified services.
