ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has secured the top position in the fully funded Erasmus Mundus scholarships under the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme for the fifth consecutive year, officials said.

Under the latest round of the Erasmus+ scholarships, Pakistan’s students won 98 awards, maintaining its leading position among participating countries.

This year, the European Union announced a total of 1,872 scholarships under its flagship programme, which promotes academic mobility and international cooperation among students and institutions.

Bangladesh ranked second with 80 scholarships, followed by India in third place with 75 awards.

Officials said the continued strong performance highlights Pakistan’s growing participation in international academic exchange and higher education collaboration.

The Erasmus+ programme supports students and researchers through opportunities to study, train, and gain experience across European universities and institutions.

The European Union congratulated 98 Pakistani students selected for the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships for the 2026 cycle, describing the achievement as another major milestone in Pakistan’s growing academic engagement with Europe.

In a message shared through Erasmus+ channels, the EU said Pakistan continued to dominate the global rankings for Erasmus Mundus fully funded scholarships, ahead of countries including Bangladesh, India, the United States and Italy.
