The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) disproved rumors circulating on social media about snow fall in the plains of Punjab, calling them as baseless rumors.
In an official statement, the PMD advised the public to neglect fake news.
According to the Met Department, stable weather conditions are anticipated, leading to cold and dry weather in most parts of the country.
Conflicting to the possibility of snow in Punjab, the Meteorological Office mentioned that the plains of Punjab will face extremely cold weather in the upcoming week. Thick fog is expected in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh in some areas.
Cold is also predicted in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region (including Islamabad), and Kashmir.

The Met Department further indicated that light rain, accompanied by light snow fall over the mountains, is forecasted in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan on January 13, 16, and 17.
People are encouraged to use water wisely since areas dependent on rainfall might face water stress.
Additionally, due to fog in flat regions, daytime temperatures are expected to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius below the usual range.
Farmers are encouraged to accomplish their crops and certify the well-being of their cattle in warm places during the usual cold weather conditions.
Moreover, travelers are warned to workout extra care during foggy days.
