Rainfall predicted in various parts of Pakistan

The National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of possible rainfall in several parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the NDMA, intermittent rains are expected in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with showers also forecast in the upper catchment areas of major rivers, including Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej.

In Punjab, rainfall is anticipated in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Hafizabad, Sargodha, and Khushab. Similarly, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, and Mansehra.

The NEOC further noted the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Waziristan, and adjoining districts.

In Sindh, rainfall is likely in Karachi, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tharparkar, and Umerkot.

The NDMA has also warned of potential landslides in the hilly regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir due to the expected spell of rain. It has advised local authorities to remain on alert and ensure precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
