KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet on Wednesday gave approval to the proposed provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, as reported by state broadcaster PTV.
The approval was granted during a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who also oversees the finance portfolio.
He said that the upcoming budget has been designed to address the needs of all sections of society, while the provincial government continues efforts to reduce poverty across Sindh, according to the report.

The meeting also approved key decisions related to the minimum wage for workers, which will be incorporated into the new financial plan.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is expected to present the budget in the Sindh Assembly during today’s session.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s House, the cabinet expressed appreciation for what it termed “record-level” development work carried out during the previous financial year. It also reiterated its commitment to public welfare under the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

The proposed financial plan includes an upward revision in the minimum wage, aimed at providing relief to workers amid ongoing economic challenges.
Earlier, in a separate review meeting, the chief minister assessed the performance of major revenue-generating departments.
He instructed officials to enhance tax collection mechanisms and improve overall fiscal management to support the province’s development priorities.
