A suicide attack at the Dajal inter-provincial check post in Bhakkar claimed the lives of two personnel of the Punjab Police, while one constable was injured.
According to reports, the attacker blew himself up near the check post, causing a powerful explosion that targeted the officers on duty.
The martyred officials were identified as Constable Faheem Abbas and Constable Shehbaz Madni. Constable Arshad was injured in the blast and was immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
Inspector General of Punjab Abdul Karim paid tribute to the fallen officers, stating that Constables Faheem Abbas and Shehbaz Madni sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while protecting the country and its people.
He said the brave personnel of Punjab Police will always be remembered. The IG also expressed condolences and sympathy with the bereaved families, assuring them that the department will not leave the families of its martyrs alone.
He added that providing the best welfare facilities to the families of martyrs remains a top priority, and directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for injured Constable Arshad.
Abdul Karim further stated that every officer of Punjab Police stands like a solid wall against anti-state elements, Fitna al-Khawarij, and Fitna al-Hindustan. He reaffirmed that operations will continue until terrorism is completely eliminated and those responsible are brought to justice.
