MARDAN: A news channel reported on Tuesday that a large crowd protested against gas loadshedding in Mardan, which persists even during Sehri and Iftar.

Enraged women joined the demonstrators in blocking Malakand Road in Takht Bhai Tehsil, leading to a massive traffic jam and long queues of vehicles.

The protesters urged authorities to restore gas pressure and end loadshedding in the tehsil and nearby areas. They stressed that enduring gas shortages during crucial times like Sehri and Iftar is unbearable.

The demonstrators warned that they would surround the Sui gas office if authorities failed to end the gas loadshedding.

Meanwhile, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi urged the Prime Minister of Pakistan in a letter on Tuesday to take immediate action to end electricity and gas loadshedding in the province.

The governor expressed serious concerns over electricity and gas loadshedding in the province during Ramadan, stating that despite KP producing ample electricity and natural gas, it remains deprived of its own resources.

He condemned the ongoing power and gas outages, stating that they have severely disrupted daily life for the province’s residents.

He further pointed out that “despite the Prime Minister’s announcement of uninterrupted power and gas supply during Ramadan, the reality on the ground is different. Load shedding during Sehri, Iftar, and prayer times has caused immense difficulties for citizens, he added.”

The Governor emphasized that Ramadan’s sanctity requires a peaceful environment for the people. He urged authorities to resolve these issues so the people of KP could focus on their religious obligations like the rest of the country.
