The Sindh government has announced the release of ‘Mera Lyari’, a bold cinematic response to the Indian film Dhurandhar, which has faced heavy criticism for its distorted and negative portrayal of Pakistan, particularly the Lyari area.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Minister for Information and Broadcasting, condemned Dhurandhar in a post on social media platform X, calling it a blatant piece of propaganda designed to malign Pakistan’s image and intentionally vilify Lyari.
Sharjeel Inam Memon firmly stated that Lyari is not a symbol of violence, but rather a vibrant hub of culture, peace, talent, and resilience.
Indian movie Dhurandhar is yet another example of negative propaganda by the Indian film industry against Pakistan, especially targeting Lyari. Lyari is not violence—it is culture, peace, talent, and resilience. Next month Mera Lyari will release, showing the true face of Lyari:… pic.twitter.com/v2FsVMfWsB

He announced that ‘Mera Lyari’ would be released next month to present the true, untold narrative of Lyari to the world, showcasing its positive and inspiring legacy.
Describing Lyari as a region of “peace, prosperity, and pride,” Sharjeel Inam Memon expressed confidence that the film would correct the misconceptions fueled by Dhurandhar.
In his post, he also unveiled two official posters of ‘Mera Lyari’, featuring celebrated Pakistani actors Nadeem Ejaz, Samina Ahmed, and Dananeer Mobeen. The film is produced by Ayesha Omar, with the script and direction helmed by Abu Aleeha.
Since its release, ‘Dhurandhar’ has provoked strong backlash for portraying Lyari as a dangerous and war-torn area. The Indian film stars Ranveer Singh as a RAW agent, with Arjun Rampal playing a Pakistani intelligence officer.
