James Anderson demands to remove mankad law from cricket

English fast bowler James Anderson has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) that can they remove the mankad law from cricket.

James Anderson raised the point after today’s incident in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup quarter-final match when Afghan bowler Noor Ahmad mankad Pakistan batsman Mohammad Huraira while delivering the ball.

Anderson took on Twitter and questioned. ” Can we sort out (remove) this law please, ICC and MCC?”

Noor was criticized heavily by the commentators and also the fans on different social media platforms.

As is this the right way to dismiss the batsman and also doing this kind of stuff at this level of cricket.

This was not for the first time the dismissal took place in a U19 World Cup but in 2016.

West Indies Keemo Paul decided to mankad Richard Ngarava when Zimbabwe needed only three runs to win with a wicket remaining.

According to ICC Rule 41.161, if a non-striker player is out of the crease, the bowler may dismiss him, but the players refrain from taking such action to maintain the game spirit.

There have been 25 incidents in all levels of cricket where a bowler has decided to do this act.

Five times bowlers have shown a great gesture by not doing mankad.

Earlier, Pakistan beat Afghanistan with 6 wickets in under-19 World Cup quarter-final.

The Afghan team collapsed on 189 runs.

Pakistan met with the target in 41.1 overs with 6 wickets in  hand.

Haider Ali ran out after making 28 runs while Muhammad Huraira made 64 runs.

While Captain Rohil Nazir was dismissed for 22.

Remember that after defeating Afghanistan, Pakistan has qualified for the semi-finals.

The green shirts will face traditional rival India in the semifinals.

Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first in the quarter final of ICC under-19 World Cup.
