Messi to leave Barca and play for Manchester city

Messi broke Twitter with 10 m tweets in 10 hours. Football fans who hated him for humiliating their teams are dreaming for his arrival, as Messi announces to leave Barca.

Shocking, but true! Spanish media reported that Lionel Messi who joined football club Barcelona at the age of 13, made the first team debut at 16 and since then, helped them scale unprecedented heights, and established the Spanish side as the best football club in the world; has finally decided to leave the club.

Messi has even told Barcelona that he will not undergo the Covid-19 test this weekend, which is mandatory for all at the club before they resume training for next season.

Where will Messi Go?

Well this is a big question! but reportedly Messi will now be joining Manchester City.  There are strong reports emerged out of both Argentina and Catalonia that he would be leaving. While nothing official has come out from either side, it does look to be the end of an era in Barcelona.

It should be noted that Messi’s decision came after Barcelona lost 2-8 to Bayern Munich in the quarterfinal of the Champions League.

Former Barcelona captain and Messi’s teammate Carles Puyol was the first player to bid farewell to the Argentine superstar, whose decision sent the football world into a meltdown.

Why Messi is Leaving Barca?

In September last year, it emerged that a clause in Messi’s contract allowed him to unilaterally leave the club at the end of each season.

The clause was inserted due to a hefty buyout package, which would make a normal transfer un-affordable for most clubs.
