Late Cricket Legend Abdul Qadir Bestowed With Honourable Sitar-e-Imtiaz

Late cricket legend Abdul Qadir has been conferred the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s third-highest civilian award.

President Arif Alvi, on the occasion of Pakistan Day, conferred the honourable Sitara-e-Imtiaz to late cricketer Abdul Qadir.

The entire cricket fraternity and Pakistan Cricket Board is feeling proud over Qadir’s acclaimed achievement.

“You were a legend you are a legend and you will always be…Proud moment for family.Congratulations to family for Late Qadir’s Sitara E Imtiaz,” wrote Kamran Akmal on Twitter.

On September 7, 2019, former cricketing genius Abdul Qadir had passed away in Lahore after suffering from cardiac arrest aged 64.

Born on September 15, 1955, Abdul Qadir had made a notable contribution to Pakistan cricket as a leg-break googly bowler.

He had also played two World Cups under Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, in 1983 and 1987.

Later, he became a cricket commentator and chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Moreover, Abdul Qadir had appeared in 67 Test matches and 104 One-day Internationals between 1977 and 1993 and captained the Pakistan cricket team in five ODIs.

A number of prominent personalities, sports fraternity and political leaders mourned the sad demise of renowned cricketer Abdul Qadir.

They had prayed for the departed soul and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
