The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) is not an official T20 tournament.

The inaugural edition of the competition is being currently organised in Muzaffarabad.

A PCB official on Monday confirmed to Bol News that the competition is not in the same league as National T20 league or the Pakistan Super League.

“Please note that while the PCB has given the go-ahead and sanctioned KPL, the matches will not be considered or recognised as official T20s hence they are not in the same class as the National T20 or PSL,” he said.

BCCI threatening players for participating in KPL ‘unacceptable’: PCB

Before the commencement of the event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had tried to jeopardise the league by threatening other cricket boards to stop their ex-cricketers from featuring in the league and had also written to the International Cricket Council (ICC), requesting not to recognise it.

The ICC had turned down BCCI’s request citing that the 20-over tournament did not fall under its jurisdiction.
