Nadal pulls out from Cincinnati Open

World number four Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from the Western & Southern Open.

The 35-year-old took the decision as he continued his recovery form an injury which he picked at the French Open in June earlier this year.

Nadal already missed the Wimbledon and Tokyo Olympics in order to recover from the injury.

World number one Novak Djokovic along with Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Sofia Kenin have also announced that they would not be participating in the event as weel.

Nadal shares an all-time record of 20 Grand Slam titles with Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Meanwhile, in the Big 3’s absence, Daniil Medvedev will be tournament’s top-seed as the No. 2 player in the ATP Rankings.

The Western & Southern Open will be held from August 14 to 22.
