Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam has been named as Somerset’s best T20 player ahead of the Vitality T20 Blast in a survey organized by the club’s fans.

The 28-year-old amassed 218 runs in 2020 while representing Somerset. He averaged 36.33 with a career-best of 114-run knock off 62 balls.

Babar was the third fastest batsman to reach the 5000-run mark while playing for the club. He follows Chris Gayle and Shaun Marsh.

In the last 20 years of the tournament, England and Wales have witnessed a lot of top-class players.

AB de Villiers, Alex Hales, Moeen Ali, Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Colin Ingram, Ravi Bopara, David Willey, Jos Buttler, and Luke Wright were nominated as the best players in their respective clubs.

However, Babar, this year, will not be a part of Somerset as he will be busy with the national duties as he will be leading the Green Shirts against West Indies in the three-match one-day international home series.
