  • On November 25, the 50th National Athletics Championship will get underway in Lahore
  • Elite local athletes will compete over the course of the three days, including sprinter Shajar Abbas and javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem
  • They will be defending their championships for Pakistan Army and WAPDA in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively

On Thursday, a press conference was conducted at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore with Lt Gen (R) Akram Sahi, president of the Pakistan Athletics Federation, and Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, director general of Punjab Sports.

“We want to represent Pakistan with pride in the athletics world. Sahi expressed the hope that the event would help Pakistan develop fresh talent.

Sahi added that the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has “full jurisdiction” in this area and can test athletes for drugs “whenever they want.”

The competition, which will have 23 categories for men and 21 categories for women, will feature 14 teams.

Plan for November 25

The finals of the women’s 100-meter race and the high jump, shot put, pole vault, and other major competitions will all take place on the first day.

On the first day, the men’s finals for the discus throw, triple jump, pole vault, and 100-meter dash will also take place.

26 November

The finals for the 400-meter hurdles, long jump, and hammer throw in the men’s division will occur on the second day of competition.

On day two, women’s finals for the triple jump, hammer throw, and 1500 metres will also take place.

27 November

On the last day, the men’s marathon, 10,000-meter run, long jump, and javelin throw finals will take place.

On the other hand, the third day’s events will also include the women’s 200-meter and long jump finals.
