Asjad Iqbal, a professional snooker player from Pakistan, will compete in the next Welsh Open Qualifier on February 13 against five-time ranking event champion and World Championship finalist Kyren Wilson.

Asjad, who received a two-year professional licence for the World Snooker Tour (WST), will face Wilson, the current champion of the European Masters, in his first high-profile match.

The additional information indicated that Asjad and Wilson’s scheduled matchup would take place here in the main arena before the ranking event’s main round. A Best of Nine format will be used for the qualifying match between the two cueists.

Asjad, a Pakistani cueist, is now ranked 105th in the WST Rankings, while Wilson, an English cueist, is ranked ninth.

Earlier, another Pakistani cueist, Farakh Ajaib, was defeated 1-4 by Welsh Dominic Dale in the continuing qualifiers.

Ajaib took the place of China’s Chen Zifan, who is now suspended pending the outcome of a match-fixing investigation.
