Mickey Arthur would act as team director for the Pakistan Cricket Board rather than head coach, according to sources on Monday (PCB).

The Pakistan cricket team’s head coach will be fired, according to insiders, as the board prefers to work with assistant coaches rather than head coaches.

Along with the ex-South African cricketer, the PCB will appoint three assistant coaches for batting, bowling, and fielding.

Grant Bradburn, a former New Zealand Test cricketer, is expected to rejoin Pakistan’s cricket team, according to sources who spoke to media earlier.

The most likely candidate to take on the role of assistant coach for the Pakistan men’s team is Bradburn, who served as the team’s fielding coach from 2018 to 2020.

As team director, Arthur, who guided Pakistan to its first-ever ICC Champions Trophy victory in 2017, would oversee all operations.

However, in accordance with the anticipated deal, the former Pakistani coach won’t be accessible to the national team throughout the English county season.

Arthur will travel with the team to Australia and to the ODI World Cup in 2023.

Prior to this year’s ICC World Cup, which is slated to take place in India, it was announced that Arthur had consented to accept an online coaching position.

Reliable sources informed The Jang that Arthur will only be accessible for a limited number of tasks on the ground. For this year’s 50-over mega tournament in India, the former coach has promised PCB that he will travel with the team. He will continue to serve as a full-time coach for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the interim.

The national cricket governing body, on the other hand, has chosen to name a Chief of Staff for Arthur.

Mansoor Rana is set to be replaced as the team manager by Rehanul Haq, the general manager of Islamabad United.

In the first week of April, the former Sri Lankan coach is most likely to visit Lahore.
