Nida Dar: We need more chances to close gap with elite sides

Nida Dar, an all-around player, has advocated for more chances for Pakistani players to compete with the best in the world both internationally and domestically.

While they are not the only team to suffer at the hands of the enormous strength and depth of the host side, Pakistan are now touring Australia and their first two ODI losses were by large margins of eight and 10 wickets, respectively. “We need more matches to close the gap with the elite sides,” Dar remarked ahead of the last ODI in Sydney. “We always wanted to play competitive [cricket] and we can only grow when we play a lot of matches against the greatest teams.

“I’ve always wanted to play Australia and share their experience and learn from them, but as a squad, we need more exposure and more matches against them. We definitely learn a lot, which is exactly what we desire.”

With the debut of the WIPL in March, the women’s game is poised for a historic moment. There is a lot of curiosity in how the auction will proceed with Australians expected to play a significant role after the TV rights were sold this week for a massive fee, which was equivalent to close to $1 million USD each game.

But, due to the current political situation between the two nations, Pakistan’s players will be unable to compete in that competition, making other possibilities throughout the world even more vital to them.
