Lahore Qalandars defeated Multan Sultans by 21 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in the 20th match of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), becoming the tournament’s first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Rashid Khan and the Qalandars’ other bowlers held the Sultans to 159 in their 20-over chase of a 181-run target.

Earlier, Abdullah Shafique and Sam Billings shone as they helped Qalandars build a fighting total after losing the opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Mirza Tahir Baig early on.

Sikandar Raza hit 14 runs and David Wiese hit 15 runs before being sent to the pavilion by the Sultans’ bowlers.

The top-performing teams are about to qualify for the flagship cricket tournament’s playoffs. With back-to-back victories, the two teams remain atop the points table.
