Carlo Ancelotti has been handed a major injury blow ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Napoli on Wednesday.

The Los Blancos boss will be without eight players for the match, including Luka Modric, Eder Militao, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Guler, Vinicius Jr, Thibaut Courtois, and Kepa.

Modric was the latest player to be ruled out of action after suffering a muscle problem.

Ancelotti will now have to cope without several of his regular starters for the game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the Italian coach is confident that his squad has enough depth to cope with the absences.

“I really would not want to speak about all these problems that we have and players who are unavailable,” Ancelotti said.

“Because it’s a lack of respect for all those players who will be playing, who are also great professionals and can contribute great things and achieve great results.

“Obviously we didn’t expect something like that to happen, but considering that we have achieved great results. Despite all of these disadvantages, I can tell you that this squad is amazing. We have great strength and depth.”

Real Madrid are currently top of La Liga and are unbeaten in their last five games.

Napoli are also in good form, having won their last three matches.

The game is expected to be a close one and could go either way.
