LeBron James was the star of the show once more for the Los Angeles Lakers, as the 38-year-old helped his team snap a four-match losing streak by scoring a career-high 40 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 129-120 victory.
The 38-year-old James led the struggling Lakers, who, in the words of the man of the hour, “desperately” needed a miracle. He scored more points at this age for the first time this season.
James demonstrated incredible accuracy by making five three-pointers without missing any, and he also made the most of all nine of his free throw attempts. In addition, he had two blocks, seven assists, and seven rebounds.
The Chosen One did not hesitate to acknowledge that the team was “desperate” for this victory and that they needed it.
“This was one of the first must-win games for us this season,” James stated. “We was desperate for a win tonight, so desperate times call for desperate measures.”
Teammate Anthony Davis, who contributed 26 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists, provided the 38-year-old with a lot of assistance. Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura each scored 11 and 21 points, respectively, as the Lakers’ all-around effort enabled them to snap their losing run.
“To know I can go out and still make game-winning plays, can affect the game in multiple ways and can still close out a game in the fourth quarter when our team needed when they started making a run is always a good feeling for sure,” James said.
“Everyone was making shots and everybody was passing the ball,” James said. “We were trying to keep it on time, on target and not turn the ball over. That was the key to it.”
